Saudi Arabia Successfully Performs World’s First Fully Robotic Heart Transplant ๐คโค๏ธ
The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSHRC) in Saudi Arabia has made history as the first healthcare facility to successfully carry out a fully robotic heart transplant. The groundbreaking procedure was performed on a 16-year-old patient suffering from advanced heart failure.
Led by renowned Saudi heart surgeon Dr. Feras Khaliel, the two-and-a-half-hour surgery marked a significant leap in medical innovation. Unlike traditional heart transplants that require large chest incisions and extended recovery periods, this minimally invasive robotic technique allowed the heart to be replaced without opening the chest, resulting in faster recovery times and fewer complications.
