Milan… to Vos: The Rise of Silvano, the Dutchman Knocking on Fonseca’s Door
With the prolonged absence of Ismael Bennacer due to injury, the path to Milan’s first team seems to be accelerating for 19-year-old Silvano Vos, who joined from Ajax and has already made waves with Milan Futuro. In Serie C, he’s already being described as “out of category,” showing his readiness to step up.
A Product of Ajax’s Academy
Vos arrived at Milan in the summer, and the club immediately saw his potential. Born in 2005, the Dutch midfielder is known for his versatility, physical prowess, and technical ability, with ample room for growth. Having come through Ajax’s prestigious academy, Vos made his Eredivisie debut on April 9, 2023, in a 4-0 victory against Fortuna Sittard. Last season, he accumulated 34 appearances, primarily in the Eerste Divisie (the Dutch second division) with Ajax’s B team. Limited opportunities in the first team led Vos to seek new challenges with Milan this summer.
Impressive Debut in Serie C
Vos made an immediate impact in his Serie C debut against Carpi, coming on in the second half and helping Milan to a 1-1 draw. His intelligent ball management, solid defensive work, and continuous forward runs added a new dynamic to Milanโs play. Carpi’s coach, Cristian Serpini, even praised him as “out of category” for the level, a significant compliment for such a young player.
Praise from Bonera and Fonseca
Milan Futuro coach Daniele Bonera also spoke highly of Vos after his debut: “Vos is a dynamic and enterprising player. He likes to play high and be aggressive. He had a good impact and is an important asset for us.” At Milanello, the club’s training ground, eyes are on Vos, who is seen as a prospect for the future. With Fonseca facing a depleted midfield, Vos could soon get his chance to prove himself in the first team, turning necessity into opportunity.
